Reinventing Tradition

My first term project of second year was to be uniquely british. I went down the route of reinventing tradition and chose to develop the life of Guido Fawkes and juxtapose this idea with homeless people and native african dress.

The final outcome was a mixture of pony skin tied with rope, long two-tone shirts and wide fitted trousers worn inside out to give an over all effect of being dish

eveled. My client was Vivienne Westwood so I finished the ga

rments with hand stitching techniques such as blanket stitch and whip stitch using a wide natural wool, combined with sanded eyelets and plaited rope to produce finished garments that had quality but seemed informal.
